Capecitabine Dosing

When treating breast or colorectal cancer with capecitabine, dosing guidelines will vary based on certain factors, such as your weight and height. Capecitabine is taken twice a day for two weeks, followed by a one-week break. If you experience bothersome or dangerous capecitabine side effects, your healthcare provider may decide to lower your dose or have you stop taking capecitabine for a while.

Your healthcare provider will calculate your capecitabine dose based on your body surface area (which is calculated using your height and weight).   • Capecitabine comes in tablet form and is taken by mouth twice a day.

  • Capecitabine should be taken at the same times each day to maintain an even level of the medication in your blood.
     
  • For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. Capecitabine will not work if you stop taking it.
