Side Effects of Capecitabine

Anemia, diarrhea, and nausea are some of the most common side effects of capecitabine. However, most people tolerate the drug without problems. Serious side effects of capecitabine are uncommon, but if they occur, they should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. A few of these side effects can include depression, an increase in tumor size, and signs of an allergic reaction. Some rare side effects of capecitabine can include things such as weight gain, stomach ulcers, and nosebleeds.

An Introduction to Side Effects of Capecitabine

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with capecitabine (Xeloda®). However, not everyone who takes the medication will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.
