Camptosar Chemotherapy Information

If you have colon or rectal cancer that has spread to other areas of the body (metastasized), your healthcare provider may prescribe Camptosar® (irinotecan) to help slow down the progression of the cancer. This medicine is specifically approved for use in people age 18 and older. It can be used alone or in combination with certain other chemotherapy drugs.

Camptosar comes as a solution that is given slowly into a vein using an intravenous (IV) infusion. A healthcare provider will administer the medicine every one to three weeks.

Before starting chemotherapy treatment with Camptosar, make sure to review the drug's safety information with your healthcare provider. For example, you may not be able to use this medicine if you have certain allergies or if you are taking certain medications. Possible side effects of Camptosar include diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.
