Colon cancer occurs when malignant cells develop in the colon, also known as the large intestine. Risk factors for the condition include:
- Being over the age of 50
- A history of cancer
- A history of ulcerative colitis.
Various symptoms are possible with colon cancer; however, they usually don't appear in the early stages. Once a diagnosis is confirmed, the stage needs to be determined to devise the most appropriate treatment plan.
