Eloxatin Drug Interactions ExplainedThe following sections explain in detail the potentially negative reactions that can occur when Eloxatin is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
Combining Eloxatin with amphotericin B could increase your risk for amphotericin B side effects, such as kidney damage, low blood pressure (hypotension), and breathing problems. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely if you use these medicines together.
Biologic and Immunologic Medications
Combining Eloxatin with certain biologic and immunologic medications could increase your risk for potentially serious side effects, including low blood cell counts and infection. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely if you use these medications together.
Certain Other Chemotherapy Medications
Combining Eloxatin with the chemotherapy medicines listed above may increase the risk for dangerous side effects, particularly bone marrow and blood cell problems. Talk to your healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of using these medications together. It is thought that giving the other chemotherapy medicine first (and Eloxatin second) may help limit such problems.
Using clozapine and Eloxatin together may increase the risk for dangerously low white blood cells, which could increase your risk for potentially serious infections. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking clozapine during Eloxatin treatment. However, you should not stop taking clozapine unless your healthcare provider tells you to do so.
Eloxatin may decrease the amount of digoxin absorbed into the bloodstream, which could make digoxin less effective. This interaction is only thought to occur with digoxin tablets. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely if you use these medicines together, and adjust your digoxin dose if needed.
