Serious Side Effects

Some side effects of Zaltrap are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Swelling of the mouth, tongue, face, lips, or throat
    • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Signs of infection, such as:
    • Fever
    • Chills
    • Body aches
    • Cough
    • Painful urination
  • Unusual bleeding or bruising
  • Black, tarry, or bloody stools
  • Blood in the urine
  • Coughing up blood
  • Sudden shortness of breath, chest pain, or cough
  • Pain, tenderness, or swelling in one arm or leg and not the other
  • Wounds or sores that do not heal
  • High blood pressure
  • Foamy urine
  • Swelling in the arms, hands, legs, ankles, or feet
  • Unexplained weight gain or weight loss
  • Persistent or severe diarrhea
  • Sudden severe headache
  • Difficulty speaking, talking, or walking
  • Blurred vision
  • Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body
  • Severe abdominal (stomach) pain
  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site
  • Sores, blisters, pain, or swelling in the mouth
  • Signs of liver problems, such as:
    • Yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes (jaundice)
    • Dark urine
    • Pale stool
    • Upper-right abdominal (stomach) pain
  • Changes in the amount or how often you urinate
  • Redness, swelling, or pain on the palms of the hands or soles of the feet
  • Signs of a serious brain problem known as reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy, such as:
