Tonalin CLA

Tonalin CLA is an ingredient found in some dietary supplements and is claimed to help people lose body fat and prevent cancer. Although there is some early evidence suggesting that the CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) component may be effective, it is not clear if the supplements provide the same benefits. Even though it is a "natural" product, side effects are possible, such as diarrhea, nausea, and heartburn.

What Is Tonalin CLA?

Tonalin® CLA root is a brand-name ingredient used in dietary supplements. It contains conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). CLA may be a "healthy fat," and it shows promise for helping people to lose body fat and to prevent cancer.

How Does It Work?

Some forms of CLA may have effects on muscle and fat cells, decreasing fat storage and possibly increasing muscle mass. In addition, there is some evidence that CLA may be toxic to cancer cells. However, not all effects are beneficial; research suggests that this product may possibly increase the risk of diabetes and may increase inflammatory proteins in the body.

Is This Product Effective?

Preliminary evidence suggest that CLA may be beneficial for decreasing body fat and for preventing colon cancer, although it is not clear if taking supplements provides the same benefits of obtaining CLA through a healthy and balanced diet.
