Does Vectibix Work?

Vectibix® (panitumumab) is a medication prescribed for the treatment of colorectal cancer in adults who have not adequately responded to other chemotherapy treatments. But does Vectibix work?

This drug is specifically used to treat colorectal cancer that has spread (metastasized) to other parts of the body and has a certain protein on the surface of the cancer cells. This protein is called epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Vectibix works by binding to EGFR, helping to slow down the growth of the cancer cells.

Vectibix may extend the time until metastatic colorectal cancer progresses. It has not been shown to extend overall survival or improve cancer symptoms. Also, this drug does not cure cancer.
