Vectibix Dosage

The recommended Vectibix dosage will depend on your weight, whether you develop serious reactions to the drug, and other factors. The usual dose is 6 mg per kg body weight given every 14 days. The medicine comes as a liquid and is given as an intravenous (IV) infusion by a healthcare provider.

An Introduction to Dosing With Vectibix

The dose of Vectibix® (panitumumab) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on:

  • Your weight
  • Side effects you experience.

As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Recommended Vectibix Dosage

The standard dosage of Vectibix for the treatment of advanced colorectal cancer is 6 mg per kg body weight (about 2.7 mg per lb) every 14 days.

The medication will normally be stopped, at least temporarily, in people who experience serious or intolerable skin reactions. If the skin reaction improves within one month, Vectibix may be restarted at a lower dose -- usually 3 mg per kg body weight (about 1.4 mg per lb). This amount may be increased slowly to the standard dosage of 6 mg per kg if skin reactions do not recur.

General Information on Receiving Vectibix

Some considerations to keep in mind during treatment with Vectibix include the following:

  • This medication comes as a liquid (solution) that is given as a slow injection into a vein (an intravenous, or IV, infusion) every 14 days.

  • It normally takes 60 to 90 minutes to receive each dose of Vectibix. Your healthcare provider may need to slow down or temporarily stop your dose if you experience a reaction during the infusion (an infusion reaction).

  • The infusion will be given by a trained healthcare provider in a healthcare setting, such as a hospital or clinic.

  • For this drug to work properly, it must be used as prescribed. The medication will not work as well if you miss doses.

  • If you are unsure about anything related to your dosage or Vectibix dosing in general, please talk to your healthcare provider or pharmacist.
